Authorities arrest man on warrant for unlawful sexual contact

Anyone in the Fairfield County area who has been charged with a sex crime is no doubt facing a tough battle. Prosecutors typically seek the toughest penalties in these types of cases. Knowing what it takes to fight the charges can be the difference in whether or not a person is convicted.

A Connecticut man has been arrested in Maine in connection with a warrant from Franklin County dating back to 2008. The 45-year-old man left the state of Maine while he was under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct with a young girl. Authorities arrested the man in Connecticut recently, after he was pulled over for a traffic stop.

According to authorities the girl told police the man allegedly touched her inappropriately. The man was charged with one count of unlawful sexual contact with a child under the age of 12, which is a class B felony. He is being detained in a Franklin County jail and if convicted he faces up to 10 years in prison. There were no reports of how the man had any connection with the girl or any other details of the alleged incident.

If this man is brought to trial he could not only face jail time, but he could also have to register as a sex offender, which could alter his life forever. The stigma of being charged with a sex crime of any kind can be enough to negatively affect a person for the rest of his or her life. That is why speaking with an experienced criminal defense attorney who has experience fighting sex crime charges would be a good idea for anyone in this kind of situation.
