Youth group leader arrested for alleged sexual misconduct

There are a lot different circumstances that can lead to a person in the Fairfield County area being charged with a sex crime. However, being arrested or charged for a sex crime does not mean that a person is actually guilty, but he or she should always take such charges very serious.

A 25-year-old woman from New Canaan has been arrested and charged with risk of injury to a minor after she allegedly participated in a sexual relationship with a teenage boy. The woman, who was a youth group leader at the Church of New Canaan, turned herself in after discovering that there was a warrant out for her arrest. According to reports, the boy’s parents discovered the relationship when they found explicit messages and photos on their son’s phone.

The woman was also a substitute teacher at Tomlinson Middle School in Fairfield, and authorities say that they have no records of any criminal activity by the woman in Fairfield. There were also no reports on whether or not the boy was a willing participant in the relationship or if he did anything to prevent the relationship from happening.

When a person is charged with a sex crime one of the most important things to keep in mind is that these cases can be very time sensitive. Being convicted of a sex crime can lead to very severe penalties, including lengthy prison time and registration as a sex offender. Anyone who is facing an investigation, arrest or charge for a sex crime should probably consider speaking with a criminal defense attorney right away.
