Officer charged with assault for allegedly striking his wife

Being charged with crime can be a very scary thing. You might have a lot of doubts and fears as you face an uncertain outcome. However, anyone in the New Canaan area should remember that he or she is innocent until proven guilty.

A Bridgeport officer has been arrested and charged with assault among other things, after he allegedly hit his wife during an altercation in the couple’s home, recently. According to reports the man was arrested earlier this month and officially faces two misdemeanor charges: one for third-degree assault and one for disorderly conduct. Reportedly when officers responded to the call they found the officer’s wife with an injury to her eye.

The woman claimed that the couple had argued and that her husband had left the house. For his part, the officer clams that he left in order to diffuse the situation. However, because of the apparent injury his wife had suffered, investigators arrested the officer. He is on administrative leave at this time and was ordered to turn in his weapon.

This case will be interesting to follow as it involves a man who is usually on the other side of these kinds of situations. Although the evidence may appear to be damaging this man does have a right to a fair and balanced trial. If he hasn’t already spoken with a lawyer he probably should as soon as possible. Likewise, if you are facing a criminal charge then you too might want to speak with a lawyer as soon as you can.
